The DVD Review

WILDFLOWERS

Force Video. Out now to buy.

A downbeat drama from 1999 Wild Flowers tells of the coming of age of teenage Cally (Clea Duvall) who has her life view changed after a chance meeting with the exotic Sabine (Daryl Hannah), convinced that Sabine is actually her long lost mother Cally persuades Eric Roberts to  try and track her down.

Quite a strange little movie, written and directed by Melissa Painter, at times it appears she aiming for a suspense feel, at others she is all new age hippydom. Eric Roberts is his usual over the top self whilst even Daryl Hannah is somewhat subdued here but Clea Duvall obviously has some potential to go further.  Best things about the movie are the excellent cinematography focusing as it does on the California shoreline and the soundtrack which features contributions from the likes of Santana, Blues Traveller and Jane’s Addiction.

No Extras.
