ANGRY KID Series One and Two

ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

Not really, creator/director Darren Walsh provides the voice of Angry Kid.

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

Making use of the art of Pixilation Angry Kid is part human part rubber (his face anyway) and is a real teenage snot, each segment runs for just over a minute and feature such delights as Angry Kid getting car sick, accidentally giving the queens speech, pulling pranks on his younger sister and thinking his mothers vibrator is an electric toothbrush.

SO IS IT ANY GOOD?

Having been seen on the internet and as short interstitial clips on the UK ’s BBC Three channel Angry Kid is often hilarious, frequently gross and very clever.

Pixilation is the process of filming live action moments frame by frame (the better to manipulate things presumably) and Angry Kid (with his flaming red hair, rubber face and clay eyes he’s certainly a sight to behold) mixes in live action backgrounds with frame by frame stuff. Made by Aardman Animations, Angry Kid is also a little more adult than most of their other material.  Also with the very quick pace of the episodes (the credits run almost as long as the material) if some of the episodes fall a little flat it doesn’t matter because another one will be along before you know it.

ANY SPECIAL FEATURES?

Pick of the extras is the short 8 minute look at the making of Angry Kid, the crew don’t take themselves too seriously and obviously have great fun making the series; a directors cut version of the episode Stinky (which I must admit looked pretty similar to the first version); A montage of the best moments and two text based reports (one from school and one from The Police) showing just how bad Angry Kid really is.
