ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

Art Garfunkel, Theresa Russell, Harvey Keitel

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

American psychoanalyst Alex (Garfunkel) meets fellow American Milena (Russell) in Vienna and begins an intense affair with her, when she refuses to limit herself to just one relationship leading Alex to become ever more possessive until events reach a no going back point.

SO IS IT ANY GOOD?

Told in flashback as Milena lays in hospital after a near fatal drug overdose Bad Timing is very Nicholas Roeg, the expressionist director who made his name with Walkabout and Don't Look Now.

Roeg has never been overly interested in strictly straight film-making and Bad Timing pretty much brings together all the themes of his previous movies, the sexual angst, the line between love and hate which turns to something else.

Theresa Russell was married to Roeg at the time of shooting and obviously put a lot of faith in his ideas (not just in this but in later movies too) and he certainly puts her through the mill somewhat, Art Garfunkel, better known as a singer that's for sure, brings a surprising level of depth to his role as the maybe psychopathic psychoanalyst. Harvey Keitel is his usual menacing self as the officer investigating Milena's suicide attempt.

Roeg very cleverly keeps you thinking about whether Alex's version of events is the way it really unfolded and whilst the movie does contain the odd hands over the eyes moment it is not one that is easily forgotten.

ANY SPECIAL FEATURES?

Just the original theatrical trailer and trailers for other Umbrella product.
