ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders, Rowland Rivron,

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

A handy compilation of some of the best moments from Dawn French and Jennifer Saunder’s long running BBC sketch show.

SO IS IT ANY GOOD?

Having started their careers heavily involved with the infamous Comic Strip team (Rik Mayall, Ade Edmondson, Ben Elton et al who would be responsible for much of the decent comedy output of the 1980’s) Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders gained their own BBC2 show, wisely the girls ignored the political humour that has dated much of the comic strip material and focused instead on popular culture, paying particular attention to Hollywood and its stars poking fun at the likes of Liz Taylor and Liza Minelli as well as pop stars such as the very bad Bros and even Abba (these are hilarious and feature Rowland Rivron as one of the hairy members of Abba).

The TV show House of Elliot (and pompous costume drama in general comes in for a bit of stick renamed here The House of Idiot) best of all though are the two sex obsessed elderly Fat Men (both Jen and Dawn look very realistic in their latex suits and grubby old men’s clothes) who reappear regularly through the discs 102 minutes running time. Pretty much the perfect primer for anyone who has yet to experience French and Saunders and a handy compilation for the already converted.
