WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

With a comet heading for a direct collision with The Earth it is up to America to try and prevent the catastrophe occurring whilst everyday citizens prepare for the coming of the end.

SO IS IT ANY GOOD?

With a similar feel to another recent Universal release The Day The Earth Caught Fire, Deep Impact is very very American, a full on Irwin Allenesque disaster epic that despite some enormous implausibility’s still entertains enormously. Full of clichés of course from the teenage astronomer (Elijah Wood) who discovers the comet, to the ambitious newswoman (Tea Leoni) to the ageing astronaut (Robert Duvall) who has to take to the stars once again to save the Earth. Morgan Freeman is also on hand as the US President! In the vein of Independence Day and even Armageddon Deep Impact easily matches those too (not difficult admittedly) and does provides plenty of thrills. If you haven’t seen it before it is definitely worth a look.
