ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

Jamie Oliver

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

Yobbo cook de jour Jamie Oliver decides to open up his first restaurant, called 15, in London and putting his money (allegedly some $1,000,000 of it) where his mouth is by hopefully proving his theory that it is passion for food and not formal qualifications that go to make a good cook. To do this he decides to hire fifteen unemployed youngsters to become over the course of seven months the chefs in his new restaurant.

SO IS IT ANY GOOD?

Love him or hate him Oliver is a great TV character and this new release shows him warts and all, not always just the cockney geezer but also flustered, stressed and tired out. It also shows him willing to have the mickey taken out of him in order to pursue something he believes in (witness his stint on an early morning radio show).

Oliver certainly chose a stressful time to work on the project with a baby on the way, a new book out and lots of other business commitments to fulfil.

It's the kids who make the show though, over the course of five episodes they transform from nervous Spaghetti Bolognese cooks to confident young chefs, of course there are run ins as some of the youngsters cope with the discipline and some definitely have anger management issues "You've been an arsehole all day today". This 2 disc set is nicely comprehensive as it also includes the two follow up shows made six months after the series catching up with the restaurant and the new chefs.
