ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

John Hannah, Zara Turner, Gerard Murphy, Richard Moore, James Saxon

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

This medical based crime drama series follows the cases of Police pathologist Dr Ian McCallum (played by John Hannah in a style somewhere between Quincy and Taggart).

SO IS IT ANY GOOD?

There's Mudder (as McCallum would say) afoot in this riveting new release from Kaleidoscope. This 3 disc set features the first three feature length episodes (from 1995). The series does tread a similar line to Taggart without being quite so gruesome in that it is certainly more modern and real than other crime dramas such as Morse or Frost.

Hannah is excellent as London based pathologist McCallum, very understated but unwilling to give up when he spots something amiss.

Quite dark (both in terms of plot and actual filming style) McCallum more than maintains the interest and hopefully the rest of the series will follow (only 8 episodes were made and the last one didn't even feature John Hannah, he was tied up elsewhere and Nathaniel Parker stepped in to play Dr Dan Gallagher).
