ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

Roger Daltrey, Georgina Hale

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

Based on the real life story of habitual criminal John McVicar Roger Daltrey shakes off the shackles of Tommy to turn in easily his best performance as the eponymous McVicar, no matter what McVicar is determined to pursue his life of crime, even escaping from a maximum security prison to try and get to know the young son he has never known.

SO IS IT ANY GOOD?

With a script co-written by John McVicar himself the movie certainly doesn’t pull its punches when dealing with the harsh realities of prison life but Daltrey is excellent as the troubled McVicar. Grim and uncompromising with that seedy sheen that marks it down as a classic of the genre, similar in tone to The Long Good Friday and even Scum.

McVicar himself is now very rehabilitated even public speaking at functions and the like.
