ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

Roger Ramjet (Hero of our Nation)

"Roger Ramjet, He's our man, Hero of our nation, For his adventures, Just be sure, And stay tuned to this station"

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

Superhero Roger Ramjet works for the American Eagle Squadron, helping save America from such dastardly villains as the horrid Noodles Romanoff and his organization, N.A.S.T.Y. (the National Association of Spies, Traitors and Yahoos.).

SO IS IT ANY GOOD?

With his inane grin and less than smart brainpower Roger Ramjet is an unusual superhero, Gary Owens (the announcer on Rowan and Martin's Laugh In) gives a superb voice to Ramjet as he fights crime the American Way aided by Proton Energy Pills (which give him the strength of 10,000 atomic bombs for 10 seconds) and a quartet of Kids (Yank, Doodle, Dan and Dee) who were also members of the A.E.S. Ramjet has a real charm, defiantly low of budget (rather than animate lavish effects the team merely wrote them in Batman style) and quirky of script.

Spy spoofs and the cold war were all the rage in the mid sixties (Ramjet debuted in 1965) so the show found plenty of easy targets, similar in tone and feel to the Rocky and Bullwinkle show Ramjet contains much to enjoy for adults with the scripts by Gene Moss and Jim Thurman referencing plenty of adult over the heads of kids stuff. Very retro!!

ANY SPECIAL FEATURES?

Audio commentary on selected episodes by Roger himself Gary Owens.
