ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

Angelina Jolie, Ethan Hawke, Keifer Sutherland, Olivier Martinez , Gena Rowlands

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

FBI Profiler Illeana Scott (Jolie) is called in by the Canadian police department in a case involving a serial killer who for 20 years has stalked his prey and then assumed their identities; Scott makes a breakthrough but in a cat and mouse situation it looks like Illeana may have met her match.

SO IS IT ANY GOOD?

The very definition of an edgy thriller, Taking Lives packs in thrills galore as the pouty Angelina Jolie takes on a very creepy killer, very good and very scary you are never quite sure which way the plot will take you next. Taking Lives really does surprise you with it’s final third and also makes great use of its French- Canadian backdrop. Keifer Sutherland turns in a great cameo performance that has you gasping at the director D.J. Caruso’s cheek, smoothly done though.

Whilst it may not shake the boundaries of thrillerdom (there are probably one too many self conscious references to David Fincher’s Se7en for that) Taking Lives is entertaining and well worth a look, Jolie’s pretty hot too.

ANY SPECIAL FEATURES?

4 part feature documentary looking at the making of the movie which also features extensive interviews with cast and crew, there is also a set of deleted scenes, a blooper reel and the theatrical trailer.
