THE VERY BEST OF ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE

 “I don’t believe it”

6 classic episodes of one of the 1990’s most popular sitcoms, One Foot in the Grave, which saw Victor Meldrew (a spluttering Richard Wilson) being forced to take early retirement and not liking it one little bit, a real whinger Meldrew does his best to rage against the ravages of modern living, from the litter in his front garden to the activities of his next door neighbours the Trenchs.

Right from the start with it’s jaunty theme tune by the legendary Eric Idle One Foot in the Grave gets you laughing, Victor spending the majority of each episode becoming more exasperated by the minute, his cries of “I don’t believe it” signalling yet another mishap, Victor’s long suffering wife Margaret (Annette Crosbie) does her best to stay sane in the midst of Victor’s rantings.

With its scripts by David Renwick One Foot In The Grave was always something a little special and this release from Roadshow gathers together six of the best episodes (highlight of which would have to be The Trial which sees Victor on jury service) including the very final episode Things Aren’t So Simple Anymore in which life for Victor takes on a whole new meaning.

Victor Meldrew is definitely an iconic figure in British comedy and this release is for sure a worthy showcase.

Extras: Documentary looking at the history of the show.
