ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

Gene Hackman, RayRomano, Fred Savage, Maury Tierney, Christine Baranski , Marcia Gay Harden, Rip Torn

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

Former president of the United States Monroe “Eagle” Cole (Gene Hackman) retires to his rural home in Mooseport, Main , only to find himself caught up in a race to become town Mayor, his chief rival being local plumber Andy Harrison (Ray Romano).

SO IS IT ANY GOOD?

Nicely gentle feel good comedy Welcome to Mooseport entertains immensely; very funny in fact, Hackman and TV star Romano sparking off of each other to great effect. The movie also has plenty to say about the nature of celebrity – the ex-presidents every move is followed by the TV Cameras and Romano finds himself equally in the spotlight.

There are some nice supporting performances from Maury Tierney as Ray’s girlfriend Sally whom the president tries to woo, Fred (The Wonder Years) Savage also pops up as a president’s aid continually putting his foot in it and Christine Baranski as the President’s money grabbing ex-wife. Definitely worth a look.

ANY SPECIAL FEATURES?

Deleted scenes, out-takes, two ad spots and two Easter Eggs.
