ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

Jamie Durie, Scott Cam, Jody Rigby, Nigel Ruck

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

A compilation of highlights from the first 100 episodes of lifestyle garden makeover show Backyard Blitz, the popular Channel 9 show which sees a quartet of experts, designer Jamie Durie, horticulturalist Jody Rigby, builder Scott Cam and landscaper Nigel Ruck transform an ordinary suburban garden into a wonderland in just 2 days.

SO IS IT ANY GOOD?

Hard to believe that Backyard Blitz only started in February 2000 so long as it seemed to be a TV institution, this 95 minute compilation of some of its best moments is extremely entertaining. Nominally a garden make over show its the camaraderie between the four members of the Blitz team that gives the show its heart, obviously enjoying themselves immensely despite the often heavy workload.

The disc is divided into three sections, Memories, Madness and Makeovers so that in the first section we can see how the

show initially came together with footage from the original pilot episode (and boy was Jamie nervous) and how it always seemed to be raining during the shows second season, the Madness segment concentrates on the laughs, the "corn" moments where the guys drift off into fantasy land, highlights here would definitely have to include Scott's Sensei instructor and Nigel's "hare" race against a greyhound whilst Makeovers looks at some of the best "Blitz's" featured on the show.

An entertaining round up of generally funny moments, the show has come a long way since 2000, its a lot glossier now and Jamie is something of an elder statesman of lifestyle TV these days but it is still one of the best lifestyle shows on the box; Memories, Madness and Makeovers could turn out to be the perfect souvenir of the show.

ANY SPECIAL FEATURES?

The extras feature a gag reel, a look at popular plants and the launch of the show on Burke's Backyard.
