WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

Patience Phillips finds herself revived by mystical felines after being murdered when she uncovers the secret of a cosmetic company’s anti ageing cream, seeking revenge Patience becomes Catwoman…

SO IS IT ANY GOOD?

With Halle Berry slinking all over the screen in her sexy leather outfit Catwoman is a full on camp fest and fetishists delight. Catwoman the movie itself looks stunning, the singularly named Pitof (what is it with modern day directors and thinking they are so cool they only need one name), an ex video director, pulls out plenty of exciting sequences even if the main plotline, Catwoman tangling with Sharon Stone’s evil cosmetics boss, is actually quite bland.

Full of Sapphic motifs and looks between the leads Catwoman occasionally strays into Showgirls territory especially with Benjamin Bratt’s cop who is torn between love and duty but there is still plenty to keep you watching. On he whole pretty enjoyable.

ANY SPECIAL FEATURES?

The extras on the disc are pretty good actually, especially the documentary The Many Faces of Catwoman presented by Eartha Kitt, which takes a look at Catwoman down the years, notably featuring Julie Newmar and Lee Meriweather; There’s also a making of the movie doco as well as an alternate ending and deleted scenes (featuring more of the Sapphic angle and a good scene featuring a Catwoman fight with junkyard dogs), finally there’s a DVD Rom weblink and the theatrical trailer.
