WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

With its tongue firmly in its sci-fi cheek Cleopatra 2525 mixes in leggy babes with non stop action and evil robots to deliver a slice of kitsch fun. In the far future (in the year 2525 in fact) most of the worlds population is living underground with horrible creatures called Baileys

running amok above ground, 500 years after being cryogenically frozen during a breast augmentation one time stripper Cleopatra wakes up and before you can say short skirt she has joined a pair of female freedom fighters (Hel and Sarge) in a bid to rid the Earth’s topside of Baileys.

Certainly a series with plenty of interest and we’re not just talking skimpy outfits or pole dancing exploits here (the girls are a bit of a futuristic Charlie’s Angels, even so far as having a mysterious “voice” who directs them in their missions) Cleopatra 2525 ran for 28 episodes, initially in a half hour format and then later towards the end of the shows run in hour long segments, it’s packed full of gadgets, action and a sly humour that greatly adds to the fun. Not a show to take as serious scifi but one that is fluffy and fun.

ANY SPECIAL FEATURES?

Extras include deleted scenes and out-takes, a featurette on the special effects and stunts and a bonus episode of Earth 2 (the scifi drama series that is also released this month).
