Allen is certainly a TV comedy legend and this round up (personally
selected by Allen himself) pretty much proves it, bookended by new
segments with Allen in a TV control room surveying his career on a
multitude of TV’s and whilst he has aged his material (and his
delivery) hasn’t, Allen has been deemed slightly controversial with
his frankness with regard to sex and especially religion, always a
touchy subject for comedy, doubly so for an Irishman. Interestingly
Allen had first become something of a TV name in Australia in the early
60’s, after being spotted in a Sydney nightclub he found himself
hosting
late night talk show Tonight With Dave Allen which although only
supposed to run for a few nights ending up lasting 18 months! This is a
great release well worth checking out and may your God go with you.
