ANYONE
IN IT WE KNOW?
Sean
Astin, Shannon Elizabeth, Matthew Lillard, Brian Dennehy
WHAT’S
IT ABOUT THEN?
Morgan
and Jason are a pair of late
twenty-something Dish Dogs,
traveling the country searching,
pretty much, for the meaning of
life and then discovering that
it lies in their own backyard
when they return home for the
wedding of a friend.
SO
IS IT ANY GOOD?
Made
in the late 1990’s this Gen-X road movie-esque comedy drama stars a
pre hobbit Sean Aston as the questing Morgan, only ever having seen
Astin play Samwise Gamgee it was a pleasant surprise to see him here as
the romantic leading man, Dish Dogs has plenty going for it, some great
dialogue, some true laugh out loud moments and a scene that proves
Matthew Lillard is probably the worst singer ever (great song though),
Brian Dennehy pops up to add a bit of gravitas as an ageing
surfer/philosopher who may not in fact
have
all the answers that Morgan thinks he does and there’s a good role for
a pre-American Pie Shannon Elizabeth as the sexy dancer whose brain
captures Morgan’s heart. All in all Dish Dogs is an enjoyable movie
that is well worth seeking out.
