WHAT’S
IT ABOUT THEN?
We
all shuddered at the head
spinning terror of the exorcist,
now lets go back into time to
look at Father Merrin's first
experience with demonic
possession.
It
is near the end of World War II
and Father Merrin sickened by
the senseless slaughter,
disgusted by the violence that
war brings turns his back on the
church and his ministry. He is
approached by a man who wants
him to find a demonic artifact
from a church just discovered in
a place where there is no record
of a church ever being built
there, out of curiosity more
than anything he agrees to go he
is surprised when a young priest
from the Vatican accompanies
him.
Arriving
at the dig site he meets Sarah a
young doctor working there and a
strong friendship builds. There
is a sense of dread and unease
in this place the native workers
believe that the church being
unearthed is cursed and have
fled. Merrin begins to
explore it the first thing he
finds is paintings of the devil
on the walls and all the
crucifixes are inverted, this
was not a house of God. In
further explorations he finds
catacombs deep below the earth
and further devil icons.
