ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

Michael Landon, Karen Gressle, Melissa Gilbert, Melissa Sue Anderson, Karl Swenson, Victor French

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

In the late 1870’s homesteader Charles Ingalls (Landon) and his family move to a small farm in Walnut Grove, Plum Creek in Minnesota in order to make a new life for themselves.

SO IS IT ANY GOOD?

One of the best loved shows of the seventies, Little House on the Prairie is set from the same mould as that other family TV classic The Waltons and whilst it is set out west it is not a Western, more concerned with daily life and living and growing than anything else. Besides Landon’s head of the household Charles the other main characters were his wife Caroline (Karen Grassle) and their three daughters Mary (Melissa Sue Anderson), Laura (Melissa Gilbert) and youngest Carrie (played alternately by identical twins Lindsay and Sidney Greenbush). The Ingalls worked hard to integrate themselves into Walnut Grove and quickly made friends with Nels Oleson (owner of the general store), Mill owner Lars Hanson and cuddly Mr Edwards (Victor French) who ran a nearby farm.

Little House is a full on nostalgia blast and whilst at times the show could be overly sentimental it’s always enjoyable and the nice pricing of these box sets make catching up with the Ingall’s a very attractive proposition.
