ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

Darren McGavin, Simon Oakland, Carol Lynley, Richard Anderson, Jo Ann Pflug

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

Newspaper reporter Carl Kolchak is convinced that the killer behind a whole series of murders may be down to a killer of a vampiric nature but the closer he gets to the truth the more bizarre the case becomes, in the sond story Kolchak finds himself in Old Seattle investigating murder in a ghost town beneath the city streets.

SO IS IT ANY GOOD?

Kolchak, a self confessed forerunner to Chris Carter’s X-Files, is a very well remembered TV series from the mid 1970’s, this new double pack from MRA brings us the two feature length TV Movies that led up to the series. The show itself is like a mix between a straight detective show and a fantasy/supernatural style show something akin to an episode of Night Gallery.

Made to a high standard, thanks in no small part to the involvement of writer Richard Matheson (who was responsible for the superb Omega Man)  and Dan “Dark Shadows” Curtis as well as a fantastic performance by Darren McGavin as the world weary Kolchak.

A gem then from the last great era of classic TV, hopefully the series will follow too.

ANY SPECIAL FEATURES?

No extras in this nicely packaged double pack but there is an indepth and glossy 24 page book by aficionado David Gee that also includes an episode guide to the series.
