WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

A second selection of choice cuts from the fast paced sketch show of the  early 1980’s. The team pretty much established themselves as the Monty Python of their era and clearly influenced the likes of Harry Enfield and The Fast Show Team as well as paving the way for the Comic Strip team and much of the alternative humour that followed.

SO IS IT ANY GOOD?

While volume one was frequently hilarious this second set (again running around 90 minutes) must surely contain the best sketches from the shows history, it certainly contains the best songs I Like Truckin’ and its accompanying video is true legend and Nice Video Shame About the Song pays out the early 80’s trend of overly arty videos for terrible songs.

Sketch wise highlights just have to be the brilliant John McEnroe breakfast sketch (You Cannot Be Serious, I did not spill my orange juice) which may seem slightly dated now but its still hilarious as well as Not The Parrot Sketch and the Deaf Telephone Sketch.

Again there are plenty of clips of politicians making fools of themselves to act as bumpers between the sketches. With its mixture of poking fun at figures of the day and political satire it can seem a little dated now but the hits far outweigh the misses providing a great ratio of laughs per dollar. Good stuff.
