ANYONE
IN IT WE KNOW?

WHAT’S
IT ABOUT THEN?
With
the world being in the perilous
and dangerous state that it is,
its no wonder that "end
times" books, documentaries
and movies are grabbing peoples
imaginations, when people are
worried they do like to see it
expressed in the popular culture
that surrounds them,
Revelations, clearly emboldened
by the success of the Da Vinci
Code and the Left Behind series
of apocalypse novels, is a 6
hour mini series starring Bill
Pullman as
Harvard
professor Dr Richard Massey who is a complete non believer when it comes
to matters of Heaven and Hell, however after teaming up with nun Sister
Josepha Montafiore (Natasha McElhone) he learns the devastating truth
that the prophecies foretold in the Bibles book of Revelations is coming
true and we are in the End of Days.
With
a script written by David Seltzer, the man who brought the Omen to the
screen, Revelations is one scary series, a gigantic battle between good
and evil and Satan and God personified by Pullman's professor and his
battle with Michael Massee's thoroughly evil Isiah Haden (a murderer who
killed Massey's daughter), Haden is channelling Satan (he proves this by
chopping off a finger and spilling not a drop of blood).
Revelations
pulls no punches, Haden's arrest triggers the start of the Apocalypse as
nations start to collapse, the series then veers off wildly from
accepted religious teaching by suggesting that Christ has returned to
Earth in the form of a second virgin birth with the second half turning
into a race as Haden tries to find and kill the baby Jesus before Massey
and Montafiore can effect a rescue.
Genuinely
entertaining and made with a high gloss sheen giving it the look of a
movie, Revelations, once seen, is not something easily forgotten. Exhilarating,
heart racing, food for thought that also scares the pants off of you.
