ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

Morrissey

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

A live concert given by the idiosyncratic Morrisey at his now legendary homecoming/birthday show in Manchester , England .

SO IS IT ANY GOOD THEN?

You can say what you like about Morrissey, the UK ’s favourite eccentric musician but he is a great showman and this sumptuous new DVD from Sanctuary proves it and his audience absolutely love him. The show is something of a celebratory event as Morrissey turned 45 around the time of the show and it was also his first UK live performance for seven years. The setting is perfect of course, Morrissey being a mancunian legend and wisely for a solo performer with a past as part of a band he knows when to throw in the old Smith’s classics so we have newie First of the Gang to Die as well the stupendous There Is A Light That Never Goes Out but most of the songs come from his best selling You Are The Quarry album (Mozza scored four top ten singles from the album).

Morrissey comes across these days like an old school Johnnie Ray type or some pre Beatles era crooner, but he performs with great style.

Any fan of the man is going to think they have died and gone to heaven with this release and it does stand out as a great overview of Morrissey’s live style.

Any Special Features?

There are some bonus bunnies in the form of five songs Morrissey performed at the Move Festival as well as four music videos Irish Blood, English Heart, First Of The Gang To Die ( UK version), First Of The Gang To Die ( US version) and I Have Forgiven Jesus.  Special mention must also be given to the very groovy super slim digi-pack packaging.
