Xena 10th Anniversary Collection - The Memorable TV DVD Review

Xena has always been a fan driven show and Anchor Bay have pulled out all the stops with the special fan chosen 10th Anniversary Collection. Xena of course is the well remembered fantasy action adventure series that spin off from Hercules in which the one time baddie

from that show had now become a heroine and travels across ancient lands with her 'aide de camp' (Camp being the operative word) Gabrielle fighting evil and righting wrongs.

This great seven disc set from Anchor Bay features 16 episodes taken from across all six seasons of the show and features both the first episode and the last as well as some very choice material inbetween including the legendary musical episode The Bitter Suite.

Fantastically packaged with its embossed Silver cover and faux leather box this is a definite must have for Xena follower, not only are the episodes selected pretty much the best from the shows run (yes there are going to be people asking why such and such episode wasn’t included but there really isn’t a duff episode on here.) but the extras are such that it has to be marked down as essential.

Extras are huge and features interviews with all the principal cast and crew members as well as audio commentaries then there are a whole host of features, theres a lengthy look at the 2005 10th Anniversary Xena Convention as well as fun re-enactments by fans of key moments in Xena Re-enactments ; Xena Fanatics features video tape evidence of Xena fans; Comic Relief features a first time interview with actor Robert Trebor who talks about his character Salmoneus; Xena’s Hong Kong Origins taps into Xena’s martial moves and their influences; Mythology Vs Xena looks at the mythological aspects of the characters in the show; Seeing Double is an interesting look at the work of key stuntwoman on the show Zoe Bell; There is also a look at the work of the brilliant Bruce Campbell in the feature B is For Bruce. Great stuff.
