ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

No not really.

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

The true story of a couple of American political activists who call themselves "The Yes Men" who managed to carry out some audacious deceptions.  Their names are Mike Bonanno and Andy Bichlbaum.

Their story starts when their political beliefs led them to create a website that was almost but not quite a duplicate of George W Bush's official website poking fun at him in an effort to expose some of the hypocrisies they perceived.

With this notoriety they were offered an internet domain name that was similar in nature to that of the World Trade Organisation whose policies they found questionable.  They set up a duplicate style website and soon found that they were getting e-mails from media organisations who thought they were contacting the real thing inviting them to speak on TV news pieces.

They took up those offers appearing on TV being interviewed as a WTO representative expressing reasonable sounding but slightly ludicrous viewpoints but were nevertheless taken at face value.

They continued this with making speeches at conferences under the WTO banner - the main piece on the DVD is when they demonstrate the clothing of the future - the management leisure suit - which has an upward appendage worn around the waist which will carry informational devices to allow the wearer to keep in contact with his workers - looking very much like something very rude!  But being taken seriously by the conference delegates.  The Yes Men are concerned that if what they have to offer is being accepted without it being commented on as being stupid then what rubbish can real companies get away with without being questioned.

There are a few other similar types of stunts depicted as they try to expose the unfair practices that they believe the WTO is party to.

Is It Any Good?

It's an interesting documentary whose subject is sufficiently intriguing to maintain interest throughout.  The amazing audacity of the Yes Men's main front guy who really does look convincing and speaks with enough authority on his subjects to make the wacky stuff he comes up with later on seem fairly convincing as well - and of course the conference delegates are under the impression that he is a real representative of the WTO and aren't expecting a spoof.

ANY SPECIAL FEATURES?

Commentary track from the two Yes Men and the three directors; four deleted scenes.
