WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

Brisco starring the brilliant Bruce Campbell is one of those shows that deserved to be recognised for its genius but some strange reason never achieved the success it deserved, truly ground breaking and genre surfing at a time, the early 1990's, when most TV was stagnating. Hopefully this awesome 8 disc box set will bring it to a wider audience.

Set in the 1890's The Adventures of Brisco County Jr was a mix of classic western adventure and scifi fantasy that saw Campbell as Brisco, a lawyer turned bounty hunter. Brisco spent much of his time attempting to track down the evil John Bly and his gang who had been behind the murder of Brisco's father (who would often appear to Brisco in ghostly form). On his bounty hunting missions Brisco was most often teamed with (or really at loggerheads with) the burly black Lord Bowler. Other regulars include Brisco's sometime girlfriend Dixie Cousins, lawyer Socrates Poole and nutty inventor Professor Albert Wickwire.

The scifi theme comes into play when Brisco discovers a strange golden orb that John Bly was deadly keen to also get his hands on, midway through the season show Brisco discovered that Bly was actually from the future (2506 in fact) and needed the orb as part of his plan to rule the world back in his own time. Of course Brisco is determined to stop his plans and ends up joining forces with Carina, another time traveler, this time from the year 5502.

A brilliant series that never takes itself too seriously and its clear that the cast are having a whale of a time with their roles. Don't miss it.
