Hadleigh
grew out of an earlier show
called Gazette (broadcast in
1968) which saw the character of
Hadleigh working on his fathers
weekly newspaper; The following
year the Hadleigh series proper
emerged, Hadleigh is now lord of
the manor and as the sole owner
of the newspaper, following his
fathers death, he is in the
process of negotiating a
takeover by a bewigged Bill
Fraser.
Fraser
would like to see Hadleigh stay
in a prime position but Hadleigh
has other ideas. This first
season features 13 classy
episodes (the first ten in black
and white, final 3 in colour)
spread across four discs and its
am entertaining series too,
strong dialogue, some high
profile guest stars in the shape
of the already mentioned Fraser,
Wanda Ventham and a young
Penelope Keith.
