WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

When Lois and Clark aka The New Adventures of Superman first appeared in 1993 it was a real breath of fresh air, with plenty of action, romance and humour ("Gee, now I know why they call them tights!") and a great pair of young leads in Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher.

Cain is a younger than normally seen Superman (and his alter ego Clark Kent of course) just making his start in the world with a job at The Daily Planet in Metropolis whilst Hatcher is fellow reporter Lois Lane. Of course this being a show about a superhero Metropolis is constantly under threat from criminal masterminds (especially Lex Luthor, debonairly played by John Shea), megalomaniacs and alien invaders. The real heart of the series though is the sexual chemistry and would be romance between the leads (even the title makes this obvious), it was evident in the first season but this 6 disc box set from Warner of the second season sees the producers stepping on the gas a little more. It's clear that Lois and Clark have feelings for each other despite the fact that Lois is still extremely interested in Superman.

With episodes that see Superman have to battle with a resurrected 30's mobster and tangle with a martial arts master as well an episode Season's Greedings written by star Cain this is a hugely entertaining series that stands up very well today and leaves the much more serious Smallville for dead. Teri Hatcher is currently steaming up the screens in Desperate Housewives but its her role in Lois and Clark that sees her at her best.

ANY SPECIAL FEATURES?

Extras include a Commentary on "Season's Greedings" by Dean Cain (actor and writer of this episode); Lois & Clark: Secrets of Season 2 - a look at the new show direction and other significant changes Lois & Clark underwent during its sophomore season, including interviews with cast and crew and Marveling Metropolis: The Fans of Lois & Clark - learn about the relationship between the fans, cast and creative minds of the show and hear a humorous Q&A between fans and the "Man of Steel' himself, Dean Cain.  There are also interviews including various cast and crew as well as members of the most well-known Lois & Clark fan group, the FOLC (Friends of Lois & Clark).
