WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

With JAG heading off into a fading sunset series creator Donald P. Bellisario was clearly unwilling to let the naval format go completely, what better way to keep the franchise alive than with a spin off introduced in a double JAG episode. NCIS starring Mark Harmon, David McCallum and Michael Weatherly, follows the cases

of a hush hush CIA type agency that specialises in Navy cases, whilst it is not pushing the envelope in any way NCIS is extremely watchable, it has that Bellissario humorous touch that he manages to imbue all his work with and there are tons of playful references to other shows and films, especially the CSI franchise.

The early episodes deal with the integration of Secret Service Agent Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander) into the NCIS team; Although the Naval setting might mean that ideas become somewhat limiting that certainly isn't the case in this first season and anyway as Bellisario himself says its not so much about solving the case but about how the team work together and the journey they take as the case gets solved.

This nicely put together 6 disc box set features all 23 episodes from the first season and is well worth spending some time with.
