WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

This deliciously black comedy from the BBC is a real treat, Julia Davis, who also wrote the series, stars as beautician Jill Tyrell, who after discovering her husband has terminal cancer, is extremely eager to move on and find a new relationship - in fact Jill is decidedly sex starved, there not having been much going on in the bedroom department for the last 15 years with Terry.

Before you can say "husband, what husband" Jill is exploring the possibilities of meeting other men, there's a brilliantly cringeworthy meeting with an onbessive Glen (played superbly by Mark Gatiss - all frizzy hair and fake teeth), before firmly setting her sites on the doctor who lives across the road, the Doctor Don Cole, played by a bearded Angus Deayton is married to the disabled Cath and Jill is determined to do everything in her power to win over Don.

Nighty Night is very dark, the kind of show you watch with a hand half over your eyes, Julia Davis has created a real gorgon of a character, one however that is sure to go down as a TV great.

Whilst it is sometimes painful to watch, Jill has no boundaries when it comes to bad taste, Nighty Nighty is an extremely clever and funny series and one that is not to be missed.

ANY SPECIAL FEATURES?

There are some amusing out-takes and a good selection of deleted scenes.
