WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

Based on the best selling novels by Brian Jacques Redwall is a superior children's animated series that mixes in elements of Watership Down and Duncton Wood to bring to life a wonderful medieval world where all the main characters are mice and rats.

Redwall itself is a monastery - home to an assortment of monks, warriors and village folk and this volume one release features the first three episodes setting up the premise of the series nicely (Redwall was made by Nelvana and consists of 39 episodes made across three series). Cluny the Scourge is a two part story and tells of how young Matthias is orphaned by the evil rat Cluny whose army lays seige to Redwall - the third episode carries the story a little further with Cluny using a Fox to plant rumours of an attack inside Redwall itself.

This series is a real treat, quality animation and a thrilling story that captures much of the excitement of Jacques' novels. Author

Brian Jacques was a merchant seaman before turning his hand to writing and he created a world that is familiar but completely original too and one that has a truly epic scope. Very recommended.
