ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

Jaimie Alexander, Joey Mendicino and Joey Lawrence

THE LOWDOWN

Nicole (Jaimie Alexander) and Jess (Joey Mendicino) begin a cross-country road trip together from Texas to Hollywood. Their careless, open road adventure comes to a screeching halt as the journey takes a deadly turn at an out-of-the way rest stop. What follows is a dangerous, psychological, cat-and-mouse game where Nicole must fight for survival against a seemingly inhuman stalker. It's a game to the death, and only one will survive.

Written and directed by John Shiban, executive producer and writer of “Supernatural” and “The X-Files Rest Stop is the chilling first film in the “Raw Feed” direct to dvd branded series from Warner Home Video.

THE VERDICT

A genuinely terrifying little number that belies its TV movie origins (the movie was broadcast on the SciFi channel in a cut version at the beginning of October) and manages to put a new spin on the road trip formula. There are also enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat the whole movie through. The cast, apart from former TV star Joey Lawrence, were all pretty new to me but Jaimie Alexander as Nicole did well with her Jamie Lee Curtis heroine in peril role.

Director Shiban clearly has his finger on the horror pulse and we shall look forward with interest to the next project in the Raw Feed series.

THE EXTRAS

Shiban shot a number of alternate endings to the movie and three extra ones are included here; Also included are Scotty's Home Movies: a unique family album from one of the oddest characters in Rest Stop; On The Bus: a view of the activities that happen on the old yellow bus and the theatrical Trailer.
