ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

Rick Stein and a whole load of fish.

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

One of Rick Stein's passions has always been fish, indeed he has long made it the focus of his cooking endeavours and was how he made his name in the first place. Two new releases from Roadshow showcase both his love of fish and his love of British food.

SEAFOOD ODYSSEY is a two disc set which sees Rick travelling the world in search of the perfect fish dish, visiting the USA, Italy, India, Australia, Spain and Thailand. Picking up loads of tips, exotic spices and new techniques, Rick then heads back to the UK to prepare a recipe based on what he has picked up and there are some great recipes across the 8 episodes such as the Charleston Seafood Gumbo, Baked Whole Sea Bass (with roasted red peppers, tomatoes, anchovies and potatoes) and Kedgeree of Arbroath Smokie, along with Jamie Oliver Stein is probably the UK's best TV chef and clearly relishes what he is doing.

FOOD HEROES OF BRITAIN provides something of a contrast for Stein in that he is exploring a whole range of classic British food dishes. Travelling from lands end to john o'groats Stein not only cooks such dishes as Hollygog pudding and Welsh lamb with honey and rosemary but also meets the people who actually make the food from the ham curers to the cheese makers to pie makers. As the owner of several restaurants Stein has always had to ensure that the food he serves up is of the highest quality and thats really what the heart of this series is about, getting the best ingredients, the best of local foods and where to get them from.

An entertaining series in its own right and could quite easily be adapted to the Australian market by one of our own TV chefs.

ANY SPECIAL FEATURES?

extras on Seafood Edyssey include Rick's guide to Cooking fish, whilst Food Heroes extras are basically more of the same with further helpings of the show.
