ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

Julia Zemiro and the cream of Australian music

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

More like a great night in the pub than the similarly themed Spicks and Specks,, RocKwiz is SBS's pop music quiz show hosted by Julia Zemiro from the Gershwin Room at The Esplanade Hotel, the show pits members of the audience with musos in a standard quiz show type format but with one great twist at the

end of every show with a pair of singers perform a duet with the RocKwiz in house band, a real cross section of Aussie legends, up and coming names and visiting international stars. This new release from Liberation Music features 28 of these duets recorded between November 2004 and December 2005 and what a blast it is, some absolutely brilliant performances from the duos (always one male, one female by the way) and some that don't quite scale the heights but provide a great insight into a performers style.

Highlights have to include Troy-Cassar Daley and Ella Hooper performing Dolly and Kenny's Islands in the Stream; Rebecca Barnard and Tim Rogers with Stop Draggin My Heart Around; Mia Dyson and James Reyne with a superlative Woodstock and best of all Squeeze's Glenn Tilbrook and Linda Bull with Private Number, theres also a melancholic air about watching one of Paul Hester's final appearances (here with Donna Simpson). Others taking part include the decidely cool Tex Perkins, legend Jimmy Little, Chrissy Amphlett, Angry Anderson, Martha Wainwright, Jimmy Barnes, Ross Wilson and Renee Geyer.

Each of the performances come with an intro from the RocKwiz team offering insight and funny bits about the performers, the release also comes with a good booklet with lots of extra detail about the acts.
Two For The Show is a great idea and has a huge rewatchability factor, making it a great DVD candidate and a huge amount of fun.

ANY SPECIAL FEATURES?

Extras include the aforementioned booklet, a set of instrumentals from the RocKwiz orchestra and a picture gallery
