ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

The voice of Richard Brier

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

Back in 1974 Roobarb and Custard first arrived on the scene, a children's animation best described as an acid trip gone bad, created by the fantastically named Grange Calveley (great name for a band that) and with a dizzy, wobbly only half finished sort of hand drawn look the show featured the machinations of the

green dog Roobarb and pink cat Custard. Roobarb was for ever coming up with great ideas only to have them shot down (often literally) by Custard. Producer Bob Godfrey likened the concept to the relationship between Tony Hancock and Sid James in Hancock's legendary fifties series which gives you some idea of the level of the series.

Now 32 years later the series is back with a vengeance and it's still as funky, funny and just plain weird as ever. Richard Briers is back as narrator and the plot lines are still the same and the drawings are still wobbly, maybe even more so. Like the original much of the action takes place either in Roobarb's inventing shed or in the back garden. This is volume one in the series and features 10 episodes of mayhem.

Roobarb and Custard Too works as a great nostalgia blast and a fun TV series in its own right. Altogether now “NA NA NA NAA, NA NA NA NAA”

ANY SPECIAL FEATURES?

A featurette called Inside The Shed looks at the making of the new version with contributions from the crew as well as Richard Briers.
