THE LOWDOWN

The wild and wicked world of Brian Jones, the founder of the Rolling Stones.

The life of Rolling Stones founder Brian Jones was as wild as it was short filled with gorgeous groupies, unimaginable decadence, and groundbreaking music.

By age 26, he had achieved enormous fame and fortune; a year later he would be dead. The story of rock's forgotten father, Stoned unravels the mystery surrounding his death while re-living the sex, drugs, and Rock 'n' Roll that made the sixties swing.

THE VERDICT

With it's sepia shadings and homage's to Nicolas Roeg's Performance Stoned really captures the look, style and general air of seediness that hung over the Stones in the late sixties, Leo Gregory has the Jones laid back attitude down pat and David Morrissey is also on his usual fine form as the Stones aggressive road manager who knows which side his bread is buttered. The other Stones are little more than ciphers and the movie definitely belongs to Jones.

Watch for a cameo from Little Britain star David Walliams. They reckon if you can remember the sixties then you weren't there, Stoned does well to plant you firmly there, it's raunchy, sometimes violent and definitely worth seeking out.
