ANYONE IN IT WE KNOW?

Garry McDonald, Pamela Stephenson, Graeme Blundell

WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

"Find out who dropped that dick Nora, I want him fired"

Starting with Marilyn (Pamela Stephenson) admitting that she has just murdered her husband Max Falcon (Garry McDonald), a popular stage actor starring in a version of Frued the Musical (which we then flashback to) you know you are not in for a

typical movie. Marilyn is busy having an affair with her Polish chauffeur Richard and is soon conspiring to murder not just Max but everyone around her. Things take a turn for the bizarre in the second half of the movie when a dead Max comes back to fix up Marilyn.

Definitely the strangest movie I've seen in a while, complete with highly surreal ending, it's not bad though, told in quick fire style with frequent cuts to the musical Freud and visits by Max to his psychiatrist (played by Graeme Blundell) and the occasional spot of electric shock treatment. Garry McDonald is one of Australia's biggest talents and has a great line in bemused bewilderment which is well used here of course, Pamela Stephenson is in her full over the top persona.

Those Dear Departed is a full blown farce really, even with its Topper like trappings, and as such the pace can get a little wearing . I can guarantee that this is the kind of movie that you'll either love or hate but it is definitely worth taking a look at.
The songs from the musical are great too!
