THE
VERDICT
The
only Danish TV series to win an
International Emmy Award, Unit
One certainly makes for gripping
viewing, the group is a close
knit one whose commitment to solving crimes is matched only by their affectionate
solidarity in the face of the
darker aspects of human nature
that they encounter in their
work.
The
very nature of the teams work,
spending up to 230 days a year
away from their family, means
they naturally pull together and
the series opens in mesmerising
fashion when Unit
One’s chief of Homicide,
Torben, is found brutally
murdered together with his flat
mate. Naturally the team are
devastated but this sets up the
arrival of the youngish ,
Ingrid Dahl, instead of the
older I.P. who was in line for
promotion.
Ingrid goes down the
wrong track from the beginning,
but when she admits her mistake
and starts to move the unit
along, they begin to work with
her.
