WHAT’S IT ABOUT THEN?

Every so often a movie will come along that redefines the word cult - the kind of movie that you can't believe you've seen, Weatherwoman is just such a movie, coming across like a soft porn Carry On crossed with a Hero style Hong Kong Martial Arts fest.

Kei Mizutani is Keiko who finds herself filling in when a TV stations normal weathergirl is away. For some reason she decides it would be a good idea to flash her knickers to the viewers at home, of course this was a good idea because ratings go through the roof and Keiko is soon given free reign to revamp the weather report. Soon Keiko is the most popular thing on TV, however she does have her rivals in the shape of ousted weathergirl Michiko as well as the Chairman's daughter Kaori who has plans to get rid of Keiko once and for all - cue some fantastic acrobatic fight scenes between Keiko and Kaori.

Director Tomoaki Hosoyama, who has a porn film background, based the movie on a very popular manga strip by Tetsu Adachi

iand Weatherwoman, despite one or two dodgy moments (including a mind blowing song and dance routine by a group of fetishists and a visit to an enema lover) does have a cartoon feel to it. If you want to take it seriously you could say its a searing indictment of modern televisions preoccupation with pushing the boundaries of taste, after all there is a cable news show called Naked News that features a weathergirl flashing more than her knickers or you could just enjoy it for what it is - a cult movie that gets better with every viewing.

Any Special Features?

The English language dub which makes the movie even funnier.
