WHAT’S
IT ABOUT THEN?
It's hard to believe now that the West Wing was initially supposed to be mainly about Sam Seaborn, Bartlet's deputy communications director, but such was the popularity of Sheen's portrayal that he soon shifted centre stage. With the series having just finished its almost 7 year run Warner bring us the final installment in this phenomenal series.

Of course season six marked quite a few changes for the show, when
C.J. (Allison Janney) becomes chief of staff, President Bartlet (Martin Sheen) suffers a debilitating attack of multiple sclerosis, and Josh (Bradley
Whitford) leaves the White House to run Matt Santos’ (Jimmy
Smits) presidential campaign. What has always been good about The West Wing is even though it is serial in nature with plots following on weekly you can still take it on a season by season basis and not worry too much about what has gone before, its extremely to lose yourself in the behind-the-scenes battle over who will score the Democratic nomination and go up against Republican frontrunner Arnold Vinick (Alan
Alda) for President and of course the acting is of the highest quality, the inclusion of
Alda, one of our best actors, as a regular is a great idea.

Critics talked of a down turn during the last couple of seasons but that honestly isn't evident here, if anything the final season featured some of the best episodes yet. This six disc set features all 22 episodes of the final season and is well worth spending some time with.
