TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED COMPLETE SERIES THREE

cast

Bill Maynard, Alfred Burke, Sir John Gielgud, Joan Collins, Pauline Collins, Jessie Matthews, Bernard Miles, Anthony Valentine, Hilary Tindall

Back in the late 1970's and early 1980's one of the highlights of the Sunday evening schedule was Roald Dahl's Tales of the Unexpected, his short stories all with a twist in the tale were a great success, helped enormously by the high quality of the guest stars, suitably atmospheric introductions from the man himself and the sultry nude female dancing in silouhette over the opening credits. This third series, first broadcast in 1980, features 9 episodes spread over two discs and actually has some of its best known episodes with highlights including A Picture of a Place with Bill Maynard as a conniving antiques dealer; Parson's Pleasure, another antiques themed episode with the legendary Sir John Gielgud and A Girl Can't Always Have Everything starring Joan Collins and Pauline Collins as performers in a rep theatre company.

You can't fail to enjoy Tales of the Unexpected with its hints of the macabre and mystery, the series has that gorgeous classic tv feel with its mix of video and film footage and is well worth checking out.
