THE KNOCK COMPLETE SEASON ONE

Distributor: Network DVD

Certificate: 15 | Region: 2 | 2 disc set

Extras: Yes

cast
Malcolm Storry, David Morrissey, Anthony Valentine, Caroline Lee Johnson

Despite running for a few years during the 1990's The Knock probably isn't as well remembered as it should and deserves to be. Shot in a style similar to the production team's other big LWT show London's Burning, The Knock, created by Anita Bronson, follows the cases of two branches of London' Custom's and Excise department, a squad based at Heathrow and the centre based City and South Team.

The teams are led by Malcolm Storry's no nonsense Bill Murray at City and South and Caroline Lee Johnson's Diane Ralston at Heathrow. David Morrissey also plays one of the key members of the team, Gerry Birch, who is struggling to cope with the aftermath of the break down of his marriage and finds himself drawn onto the wrong side of the law by Anthony Valentine's slimy George Webster.

Hard hitting and entertaining the series pulls no punches as it deals with cases ranging from the usual drugs smuggling through to imporatation of pornographic material as well as money laundering and the like. Much of this first season (7 episodes over two discs) follows the team as they try to bring down big businessman Webster as Gerry Birch gets in deeper and deeper swayed by money and easy sex (Webster allows an affair to develop between his young wife and Birch).
The Knock (so named for the moment when the team go on a raid) is definitely a show well worth looking out for.
