The Darling Buds of May  

Period comedy drama series. Stories of the permanently optimistic Larkin family in an ever sunny 1950's. For a time the show was amazingly popular and made a star out of Zeta Jones who garnered as much newspaper space as a Royal.

The Darling Buds of May was a phenomenally popular show of the early 1990's based on the rural books of H.E. Bates, David Jason starred as the 'Perfick' Pop Larkin and the show also made a star of Catherine Zeta Jones as Mariette Larkin. Darling Buds though filmed on location in Pluckley was actually made by Yorkshire.

1/2. THE DARLING BUDS OF MAY

Tax Inspector Cedric Charlton is ordered to pay a visit to the Larkin family, he arrives at their idyllic farm and soon finds himself swayed by their lifestyle and especially by the charms of the gorgeous Mariette, eldest daughter of Pop and Ma Larkin. Cedric (rechristened Charley by Pop) quickly becomes part of the family.
