Ackley Bridge Episode 3 (Channel 4 21 Jun 2017, with Liz White)

Ackley Bridge

The six-part schools drama series Ackley Bridge continues, starring Jo Joyner, Paul Nicholls, Sunetra Sarker, Arsher Ali, Liz White, Adil Ray, Poppy Lee Friar and Amy-Leigh Hickman.

Ackley Bridge is a Yorkshire mill town, home to a largely divided white and Asian population. Like the communities, the school systems have also become segregated. However as two formerly isolated comprehensives are merged into a brand new academy, Ackley Bridge College, the lives and cultures of each are set to collide.

Missy (Lee Friar) convinces Nas (Hickman) to make a play for her teacher Lila (Anneika Rose), but Nas is served a curveball when her dad announces that he has other plans for her. Confused and emotional, Nas appeals to Lila for help but Lila draws a line under their friendship.

Elsewhere a guilt-stricken Mandy (Joyner) ends things with Sadiq (Ray) and throws herself back into her marriage. Emma (White) discovers that the object of her affection, Samir (Ali), is engaged. Cory’s (Sam Retford) attempts to help Riz (Nohail Mohammed) with the opposite sex understandably backfire.

Meanwhile a hurt Nas is swept up by Fairy Godmother Missy who resolves to show her that there are plenty more fish in the sea, though Nas doesn’t take to Missy’s expedition to a gay bar and leaves alone early, leading her to bump into someone unexpected.
