Black Sails XXXV (Starz 12 Mar 2017, with Harriet Walter)

In Black Sails XXXV Maroon is filling with men, both slave and pirate. Flint and Silver realise they have a veritable army on their hands. So much so Flint starts thinking they could even sack Boston!

Meanwhile Julius, head of the slave army, thinks they should use the cache buried on the island to make Maroon their base rather than Nassau.

Rackham and Max have landed in Philadelphia, Rackham delivers the news Eleanor’s grandfather that she is dead and how Woodes Rogers is ultimately responsible. Rackham also tells Guthrie of the opportunity he would have to shape Nassau to his own. Unfortunately Rackham isn’t interested. Old man Guthrie is so bitter about what Richard Guthrie perpetrated in the Guthrie name he doesn’t care what was visited upon Eleanor. However Eleanor’s grandmother reveals that she really holds the power in the business. She agrees to everything Rackham wants but insists that Rackham kills Flint. Believing that Flint won’t stop until the whole of the West Indies are ablaze Rackham feel he has no choice but to agree. Meanwhile Anne Bonney is left behind in Philadelphia in the care of Max and Marion Guthrie to reciperate from her wounds.

Billy Bones has survived long enough to reach the fort and tells Rogers that he wants to make a deal with him. He is now only motivated by revenge and tells him the way to win once and fall is to divide Flint and Silver, as the camera cuts to a group of captive slaves one of them is Madi, who clearly didn’t perish in the fire after all. Rogers sends a message to Flint and Silver, if they give up the cache they can have her back. Silver, naturally, is keen to make the exchange. Flint knows that they can’t let that happen and proposes to go and mount a rescue mission instead. Silver agrees but unbeknownst to Flint takes the treasure along just in case.
