Doctor In Charge (ITV 1972-1973, Robin Nedwell, Geoffrey Davies)
In Doctor in Charge, the third entry in the series, the action switches back to St Swithins. Barry Evans’ Michael Upton is not in this series, his character supposedly having fallen in love and moved away. It gives Robin Nedwell as Duncan Waring, George Layton as Paul Collier and Geoffrey Davies as Dick Stuart-Clark the chance to really move centre stage – which is where they stayed for the rest the series (and it’s variants).
Once again the series was written by Graham Chapman and Bernard McKenna, Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie as well as cast members George Layton and Jonathan Lynn (who turned up in the final episode), McKenna also wrote solo and Chapman also wrote with long term partner David Sherlock.
Guest stars included Mollie Sugden, Arthur English, Sammie Winmill, Tony Robinson, Deborah Watling and Angharad Rees.
