Season Four Episode Two

“We’re in Pompeii, and it’s Volcano day!”

The Doctor has decided to show Donna ancient Rome in episode 2 of the new season airing on ABC1 on Sunday 13 July 2008 @ 7.30pm, however a slightly skewiff TARDIS sees them landing in Pompeii with a volcano that is due to erupt in 24 hours. With soothsayers and oracles and people turning into stone The Doctor and Donna quickly realise that something unusual is going on.

The Doctor Who crew have gone right back to the roots of the show with a William Hartnell style historical drama. It would have been good to have seen more of the superb Phil Davis who was somewhat under used in his role as chief soothsayer Lucius and one did expect to see Frankie Howerd come popping up at any moment though with the lovely 1970′s-esque set design, even if they did go to legendary Cinecitta Studios in Rome to shoot some of it!
