In Stryker’s Good Deed Ron witnesses an accident involving a rag and bone man that leaves his horse Jon Jon with nowhere to go. Stryker decides to take the horse back to Follyfoot as part of his bid to make amends for scaring young Gip. He thinks Gip would be the ideal candidate to look after Jon Jon until the rag and bone is better.
Gip meanwhile, who also witnessed the accident but ran away when he saw Ron, has told the police that Ron has kidnapped the horse.
Jon Jon is barely at Follyfoot for more than five minutes when he causes a major drama, he runs off home but Dora tries to stop him on new flighty horse Dancer. In the heat of the chase Dora is thrown from Dancer.
A good opportunity for Ron to take centre stage here and despite his devil may care attitude it’ s clear that underneath it all he does have a good heart. Gip is becoming something of a series regular, his third appearance in four weeks.
