Fraud Squad: Whizz Kid (ITV 14 Nov 1970, with Edward Petherbridge)
In Whizz Kid, Arthur Mills, the ageing senior accountant at Burton Investments is convinced that young managing director Robin Simms is embezzling funds from the company. He has no real proof but Simms is very lackadaisical about handing in receipts and contracts.
Gamble agrees to an investigation. Sgt Hicks is sure that is just a case of jealousy from the much older Mills however we know what she doesn’t – Simms is addicted to gambling and with his latest heavy loss he stupidly takes money out of the company to pay his debt.
Despite the fact that he has receipts for all monies unaccounted for by Mills the missing money could well bring Simms down. Detective Sergeant Vicky Hicks visits the home of Simms, she remains unconvinced that he is embezzling from his company.
