Season One Episode Two
“What have you come to do, stab me in the other leg?”
In Chelsea Girl, episode two of this surprisingly tense crime drama series the Identity Unit find themselves looking into the death of Olivia Knighton when, soon after her body is discovered, somebody is found to be using her passport to enter the country. Bloom is quickly on to the idea that the identity thief is someone who is out to fulfill a major psychological need that possibly has its roots in her childhood. If they can find her father they might be able to find out just what she is up to.
This second episode makes it clear just how Bloom likes to work and just how much Anthony dislikes his methods. Clearly their is going to be fireworks between these two before the rest of the series is out. It’s also quite amusing how the public look at them somewhat strangely when they annouce they are with the Identity Unit, not an overly glamourous name!
Joanne Froggatt turns in a very strong perfromace here as Identy Thief Jane Calshaw, we know what she is doing right from the beginning but it seems like the Unit are always one step behind – until Bloom pieces things together of course. The opening Beach scenes which purport to be a beach somewhere in Sydney look more like Skegness shot through an orange filter!
